The Belgium Campus Make IT Matter Scholarship Competition in collaboration with EOH
The Make IT Matter Scholarship Competition (the “Competition”) is coordinated by the Belgium Campus and supported by the EOH Group (“EOH”) and is designed for the youth to gain access to quality education and support the growth of South Africa’s information technology skills economy.
Participants are asked to submit an application (the “Submission”) online. The entrants whose Submissions meet the stipulated criteria, will complete a scholarship test, whereafter the top 15 participants will partake in a four-day gamification challenge (the “Hackathon”).
By entering a Submission into the Competition, all contestants agree to be bound by these official competition terms and conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”):
- How to enter:
Eligible participants should submit a completed entry form together with a certified copy of their identity document, grade 11 final-results and grade 12 July-results to the EOH website www.eoh.co.za (the “Website”).
- Eligibility:
The Competition is open to South African matric students in the Gauteng province who obtained fifty percent (50%) or more for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) in the July 2022 exam results.
To the extent that the participant has not yet reached the age of majority (18) on or before the start of the Competition Period, such Submission must include the consent of the participant’s parent/legal guardian.
Entry to the Competition is limited to one per person. Any additional entries will lead to disqualification.
Participants will be automatically disqualified if they have not obtained the following in their final National Senior Certificate results:
- Fifty percent (50%) or more for English (first language or second language);
- Fifty percent (50%) or more for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy).
No person who is a child, brother, sister, niece or nephew of or shares a household with a director, employee, sponsor or agent of or consultant to Belgium Campus or EOH is eligible to participate or enter this Competition.
- Judging:
The winner of the Competition will be selected by a panel of qualified judges from the Belgium Campus and EOH (the ”Judges”), following the completion of the Hackathon.
- Competition Period:
The Competition opens on 14 November 2022 and ends on 31 January 2023 (the “Competition Period”). To be eligible to win the Prize, all entries must be received by 30 November 2022.
Throughout the Competition Period, qualifying and successful participants will be notified.
- Prize
The Winner will receive a 3 year diploma / 3 year degree (BIT) or Bachelor of Computing) (the “Prize”).
The Winner will be notified in writing by e-mail shortly after the selection of the Winner. If the Prize is not claimed within fourteen (14) days after notification, such Prize will be forfeited.
The Prize will be activated once the Winner has enrolled with the Belgium Campus for the 2023 academic year and will be subject to the conclusion of a bursary agreement to be concluded between the Winner, Belgium Campus and EOH.
The Prize will be forfeited if the Winner does not pass each consecutive year of the qualification at the Belgium Campus.
The Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not redeemable for cash or transferable for any reason.
The Prize is awarded “AS-IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied.
- Use of Personal Information:
By entering the Competition, each participant consents to Belgium Campus, EOH and its agents and/or representatives, sharing, storing and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry for the purposes of administering the Competition.
- General:
The participant unconditionally and irrevocably indemnifies and holds harmless Belgium Campus and EOH and its successors, employees, officers, suppliers, contractors, agents, consultants, directors and shareholders against all and any losses, claims, proceedings, actions, damages, (direct, consequential or otherwise), liability, demands, expenses, legal costs (on an attorney and own client basis), medical costs or other costs howsoever arising out of, based upon, or in connection with (directly or indirectly) the participants participation in the competition, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
If a participant contravenes these rules, the participant may, in Belgium Campus and EOH’s discretion, be disqualified from the Competition.
The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Income taxes relating to the prizes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Prize Winners and their parents/legal guardian.
The laws of the Republic of South Africa govern this Competition.
Belgium Campus and EOH reserve the right to cancel or alter any aspect of the Competition at any time at its sole discretion without liability.
